Due to world (and European) situations in the past years (such as covid-19, fake news, war in Ukraine, high inflation, mental health crisis, etc.), „Steps to Connection“ training course was targeting the issues increasing isolation and social disconnection of young people from one another, from the nature and from community, often connected only through the online world, and sometimes not even this way. Our project was aiming on more inclusion and connection of young people in different spheres and on different levels through educating youth workers, who play a vital role in empowering and supporting youth on their path of social and professional development. This all in order to prevent young people from isolation and marginalization and to help connection and empowerment. The main problem identified in the youth worker sector that we wanted to address through our project was the following: limited knowledge, competences, and tools, as well as a lack of motivation in working with youth with fewer opportunities and young people socially and professionally excluded. The specific objectives of our project were: 1. To develop the resources and competencies of youth workers to create transformational and sustainable learning environments for supporting youth inclusion in social and professional life. 2. To increase the knowledge related to social connectedness and professional inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, but also everyone suffering from covid-19 pandemics and current worlds´ problems for 27 international youth workers. 3. To enhance the skills in guiding and empowering young people on the path of professional inclusion and social connectedness for 27 youth workers. 4. To increase the motivation of 27 youth workers to be more inclusive and work with disadvantaged youth. 5. To equip 27 youth workers with innovative and quality non-formal education methods and tools that foster social and professional connection and inclusion. 6. To provide youth organizations and youth workers with opportunities for cooperation and peer support, fostering quality improvements in European youth work.
