The project successfully advanced its objectives by fostering awareness and understanding of EU policies related to climate change and the circular economy among educators and youth workers. Through various initiatives, participants were equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to inspire meaningful behavioral changes and promote sustainable practices within their communities of young people. Practical, interactive tools were developed and utilized to engage young people directly and/or via youth workers, enabling them to encourage sustainable fashion consumption patterns and reduce textile waste effectively. A digital platform and network were established during the project, creating a collaborative space for resource sharing and promoting non-formal and lifelong learning opportunities. Additionally, significant efforts were made to strengthen international partnerships, which facilitated the exchange of best practices and supported the adoption of innovative educational approaches supporting the field of youth work. These combined efforts contributed to empowering individuals and communities, laying a solid foundation for the continued promotion of sustainability as a core societal value.
We applied for this project to address the environmental and social challenges posed by fast fashion and its contributions to climate change. Fast fashion promotes unsustainable practices in clothing production and disposal, leading to significant environmental degradation. This issue is caused by a lack of awareness and practical tools among educators, youth workers, and young leaders. Our project aimed to address these gaps by equipping these groups with knowledge and innovative educational resources to promote circular economy principles in the fashion industry among young people and communities. By fostering sustainable behavior and lifestyle changes, the project contributed to the EU’s climate neutrality goals and Circular Economy Action Plan.
