Today, rapidly increasing industrialization and urbanization cause rapid human-induced change in the world. This change causes many ecological problems such as global climate change and global warming. However, people do not take precautions against these ecological problems. It is necessary to take urgent precautions against the environmental conditions that have been gradually deteriorating in recent years. Protecting the environment and providing environmental education to all citizens from an early age will contribute significantly to them becoming environmentally conscious individuals. It is very important that teachers have sufficient environmental awareness and exhibit behaviors that they will accept as role models for students, as well as environmental education in school curricula. Therefore, with this project, it is aimed for teachers to become role models for their students by increasing environmental awareness, and for students to become environmentally conscious individuals by changing their attitudes and behaviors towards the environment in daily life.
Our school, which is the first vocational high school in Niğde and started education in 1944, includes Anatolian Technical and Anatolian Vocational High School programs, Vocational Education Center and Central Open Education High School. Our school, which has qualified as an eTwinning School in the 2020-2021 academic year, provides education in the departments of Informatics, Electrical Electronics, Metal, Machinery, Motor Vehicles, Renewable Energy Technologies and Furniture and Interior Design. With the "Make It Happen: Our Nature Our Future" project, it is aimed to raise environmental awareness among the students and teachers of our school within the scope of sustainable development goals. In order to achieve this goal, our school teachers attended the "Environmental Stewardship: How to Reconnect With Nature" course organized by Europass Teacher Academy and made Job-shadowing at Los Abetos College. Our students carried out student group mobility at Agrupamento de Escolas de s.João da Talha High School. As a result, the most important content of the project is to create the belief that change will begin with the individual in order to establish a sustainable environment.
