Objectives

We aimed to increase climate literacy through the project. It is expected that our students will be informed about climate change at the rate we aim, raise awareness on the subject and have the ability to produce sustainable solutions. We endeavoured to support teachers to teach their students about environmental sustainability and provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to adopt sustainable lifestyles. We aimed to preserve our connection with nature by working together with our students and teachers on measures to combat climate change. We anticipated that efforts aimed at behavior change would foster positive attitudes among students towards individual measures, thereby contributing to mitigating the effects of climate change.

Background

Our institution has carried out this project in order to increase climate literacy among students and teachers. The fact that teachers do not consider themselves competent in the field of climate change and cannot include this issue in their school curricula, and that this issue cannot be transferred to students sufficiently may prevent them from raising awareness on this issue. This situation may cause the level of knowledge and awareness required for combating climate change to be low. Therefore, teachers' environmental knowledge, beliefs and attitudes are of great importance in terms of raising climate-conscious generations. Our teachers gained more knowledge thanks to the training and by integrating this knowledge into education, they supported the development of our students' skills to play a role in the effective fight against climate change and adaptation process. Examining the teaching methods and learning outcomes of other countries has benefited the development of our institution. The mobilities enabled students to take effective steps to mitigate the effects of climate change by integrating knowledge into daily life and raised awareness in understanding their social responsibilities.
