Objectives

As Borsa Istanbul Mehmet Akif Ersoy MTAL, we aim to support our country's efforts to connect farmers to their land, keep the soil alive and increase its productivity. At this point, our project was carried out to make farmers happy, to reduce migration to cities, to ensure rural population balance, and of course to keep the agricultural sector alive, which feeds many sectors and foreign exchange income from exports. It is aimed for our Agricultural Technology Field students to develop their internship abroad in the cultivation methods that increase production while preventing the decline of plants in nature, plants whose leaves, flowers, seeds and fruits are used, soil selection, climate requirements, care, planting, shaping, harvesting and drying stages. With the internship of our students receiving Laboratory Services, it is aimed to contribute to raising awareness about the effect of soil analysis and pesticide application rate on productivity, specialization in soil analysis, reducing job concerns, developing our institution laboratories through sustainable collaborations, and curriculum development.

Background

Even though there is a lot of urbanization in our country, 1/4 of our population still lives in rural areas. Our agricultural lands are decreasing due to urbanization and industrialization. Due to the pandemic process, global warming, water scarcity and diseases, a shift towards nature has begun in agriculture. Natural agriculture and the use of local seeds have begun to increase in our country and region. In order to increase agricultural production, the production of medicinal and aromatic plants that feed many branches such as medicine and cosmetics should be encouraged by turning to organic agriculture. While the production of these plants offers a new source of income to farmers, the foreign exchange inflow to the country will also increase with the efficient production of these plants, whose annual exports are currently approaching 300 million dollars. In addition, increasing the exports of 1.2 billion dollars from the pharmaceutical sector and 829 million dollars from the cosmetics sector will be achieved with the efficiency of the plant diversity that feeds these sectors. Our school is the only high school in Ankara that provides vocational education in the field of agriculture.
