The main basis for our country to achieve economically sustainable development and take its place in global competition is to make all processes of the vocational education system based on quality. The reasons why young people do not participate in the workforce are 21.1% of young people who have no hope of finding a job because they cannot be qualified personnel. With our project, support has been provided to the goal of providing higher standards of service in the tourism sector and meeting the need for qualified intermediate staff in the tourism sector, which is included in the 11th Development Plan of our country. According to all data and research, the basis of the unemployment problem lies in the problem of qualified personnel. Our project has made a small contribution to the training of a qualified workforce that has the professional knowledge and skills required by the tourism sector and is familiar with different cultures with its language proficiency.
Recently, the number of tourism-oriented hotels in our Mersin coastal region has been increasing rapidly. With these and similar initiatives, thousands of people will be employed in the field of tourism. Additionally, there are employment opportunities for our students in the field of tourism in different regions of our country. However, in tourism service areas, there is an extreme need for highly qualified workforce with language skills. Our EU Project aims to benefit our students from these employment opportunities. There is always a need for qualified personnel in the field of tourism. To meet this need, our students did internships in the form of job placements in Germany, Czechia and Hungary. With the professional skills they acquired through the project, they had many positive professional and cultural gains in the employment/competition relationship after graduation. With the successful implementation and conclusion of our project, innovative practices were observed and transferred through the participants. Quality improvement has been achieved by adopting EU business disciplines and approach in our school and practice hotel.
