Objectives

We had three main objectives that we wanted to achieve through the implementation of our project. These are: Our students gaining experience in food and cold chain logistics and joining employment as qualified graduates, our participants developing socially and culturally as well as their foreign language practices, increasing the institutional capacity of our school and carrying out activities under different projects and increasing the competencies of our teachers. With the implementation of our project, our students' knowledge and skills in the field of food and cold chain have been improved. Thus, they have become more employable in the transportation services sector. Being in contact with the master trainers working in our partner institution has improved both their foreign language skills and the communication skills of the institutional staff. Our project team successfully completed the execution process and gained experience in preparing and following up documents in European standards. In this way, the professional development of our staff was ensured.

Background

The frozen food sector has become an important part of the world trade market due to globalization and technological developments. Many food and cold chain logistics companies in Izmir have a serious employment need. Due to the lack of practical application skills as well as theoretical knowledge of our students, the opportunities for internship in enterprises operating in the field of food and cold chain logistics are very limited. In addition, since the transportation services sector provides global services, it has become compulsory to have English language knowledge, which is a necessity today. However, in our education system, English courses have become a course that is studied for the exam and focused on passing the course. In addition to this, the main reason why our students cannot find internship and job opportunities is the lack of foreign language skills. In order for our school to better educate students in this field, to increase our institutional capacity by explaining the activities applied in European standards in our institution practically and theoretically, to follow the current information more closely and to increase the competencies of our teachers, an application was made to the Erasmus Plus project.
