Objectives

The Turkish-German University obtained the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education at the end of 2014 and became part of the Erasmus+ Programme in the academic year of 2015/2016. The first student mobilities were initiated in the spring semester of 2015/2016. As it was expected, the initial interinstitutipnal agreements were signed with the universities located in Germany due to the fact that the language of instruction is mainly German in our university. Therefore, if the previous projects' and this 2022 Erasmus project's results are considered, it can be seen that most of the outbound and inbound mobilities were realised to and from German higher education institutions. The International Office of our university is the main responsible body to manage and process the Erasmus+ KA1 projects, and the crucial objective of this office for every project is to increase the general budget of the projects. In this regard, the overall outcome for the 2022 Erasmus+ projects is considered as successful in terms of financial efficiency. The budget of this project is bigger than the previous ones and more study mobility activies were awarded grant, as there is a high demand from our students especially for the participation in the study mobility at partner universities. It is necessary to point out that the Turkish-German University has other exchange opportunities collaborately managed by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which is called DAAD-YÖK Joint Scholarship and Double Degree Programme. For this reason, the Erasmus+ participation numbers cannot have a great quantitative results because most of the academically succassful students opt for this scholarship an double degree programme. As a result, the International Office attempts to get more students from Faculties and Institutes in order for them to have an Erasmus+ mobility experience. In fact, the mobility numbers that our university has acquired from this 2022 projects can be seen as quitely high compared to the previous projects. The last point that should be covered is the fact that the student mobility budget of this 2022 project was completely utilised to finance the study mobilities. The main reason for this decision is that the upcoming projects' budgets will target both the traineeships and study mobilities. The university and the International Office will get more satisfactory mobility numbers for each Erasmus+ projects that are still going on.
