Agricultural production, which is the most basic source of life, is facing very serious problems today. The rapidly growing world population needs more and more food every day, but in spite of this, arable lands have become limited and natural environments are destroyed and nature is damaged in order to gain land. On the other hand, due to intensive chemical fertilisers and pesticide-based agricultural practices used in soil cultivation, the health and naturalness of the soil is deteriorating, water is polluted and biodiversity is decreasing due to the effect of chemicals. This danger is mentioned in all the sources examined in the field survey and this situation poses a serious danger for future generations. One of our most important tasks as humanity is to reduce adverse environmental conditions and increase production without harming the environment and nature. This can only be possible through the implementation of sustainable methods and permanent solutions in agriculture. The existence of such studies at the level of non-governmental organisations is indisputable. However, there are still serious deficiencies in sustainable agriculture. According to the surveys and questionnaires we have conducted in the field, when we examine the work of people engaged in agricultural activities in rural areas in our own environment, first of all, most of our young people, who will be the architects of our future, have very incomplete knowledge about the concept of sustainable agriculture. Those living in rural areas and engaged in agriculture generally do this work with hearsay information, especially those engaged in hazelnut work use herbicides and hazelnut pesticides unconsciously. Most of them believe that many pesticides will increase hazelnut yield and agricultural richness by drying the weeds and killing the pests. However, today, the sensitivity of each individual to the environment, the environmentally friendly qualities of the activities carried out, the quality of permanence are of great importance in contributing to the sustainability of the ecology. With this project, while raising the awareness of young people about the importance of sustainable agriculture, on the other hand, awareness has been raised in young people about protecting the environment and nature and contributed to raising nature-friendly young people in order to leave a better world to future generations. Our association members and volunteers consist of individuals involved in agricultural activities and working for nature and environmental protection. In this context, the project aims to reduce the threats to ecological balance through sustainable agricultural practices, to increase the awareness of young people, to promote smart and sustainable agricultural practices, and to encourage young people to sustainable agricultural production. The specific objectives of our project were as follows: 1. To increase the level of knowledge and awareness of young people about the importance of sustainable agriculture. 2. To teach young people sustainable agricultural practices that they can apply in their own homes and gardens and to motivate them to do these practices. 3. To introduce permaculture as sustainable agriculture to young people.
