Objectives

This youth exchange project rooted in Türkiye's rich history and varied towns. Each town has its own story and cultural impact. Before we began, our team did deep research. We explored the rich and varied past of towns in Türkiye. What we found was a need to better understand how young people view historic towns and cultural heritage topic. So, we created a small survey with university students. This survey, filled with open-ended questions, was given to 30 individuals. They were between 18 and 30 years old. The survey results yielded invaluable insights: • Most respondents expressed a penchant for visiting religious assets, defensive heritage, historic towns, ruins, museums, and cultural landscapes. • The primary priorities for their visits to historic towns were landmarks, vernacular architecture, and picturesque views. • Most folks liked longer visits to really dive into the local scene, exploring museums, wandering streets, and eating at neighborhood cafes. • People showed varied reactions when asked about the benefits of saving old towns. Some felt it helped them connect with their roots. Others said it created jobs and lessened the need for new buildings. Having this valuable information, our te¬am decided to start work promoting knowledge¬ about historic towns, focusing on both tangible and intangible heritage. We chose a town full of important cultural sights and local style buildings for the project. Also, we¬ planned longer stays, led by our hope¬ to understand all parts of heritage, including local customs and ways of life¬ by talking with local people. The main objectives of the project were elaborated: Developing cultural heritage awareness through immersive experiences in an open-air museum-like historic city. Exemplary practices demonstrated in the strategic reuse and conservation-rehabilitation of historic buildings, with emphasis on traditional techniques and principles. It is important to define the character and identity of these historic cities, and to offer remarkable insights into vernacular architecture. An overview and detailed analysis of the cultural elements that shaped the historic city, including geography, customs and beliefs. The historical significance of Mudurnu featuring traditional Anatolian houses and Ottoman urban planning, designated a potential World Heritage Site from Türkiye. The aim of our project was to share understanding about changes in conservation, clarifying words like authenticity, integrity, upkeep, restoration, revamping, and adaptive reuse. We wanted to spark up lively culture conversation among participants from six countries. Our target was to build a team of young heritage lovers and foster Europe-wise teamwork and discussion. The assignment hit the target, providing a full yet simple plan to save old sites, while honoring community beliefs and long-standing customs. We finished a ton of duties that looked at all sides of heritage, promoting equality and pushing global teamwork. Further, we tried our best to enable youngsters to actively keep historical sites safe. With both ideas and practical knowledge, they can handle a broad range of cultural assets, spanning awesome architecture to abstract ideas.
