Objectives

In ‘The Sport Bridge’ project, we used sport as a tool to promote intercultural learning, communication and respect for diversity. By bringing together young people from different backgrounds and participants who have been involved in sport in some way before, we tried to show how sport can be a unifying force with a sense of brotherhood. By including both formal and non-formal learning methods, we included disadvantaged young people in this process and addressed the impact of sport on social participation and learning skills. Our project objectives included strengthening intercultural learning and communication through sport among young people from EU and neighbouring countries, encouraging active participation of young people in sport activities, promoting sport as a language of tolerance and creating a quality sport environment. We paid attention to popularise and popularise sports for young people to lead a healthy life. We brought together young people from different cultures and backgrounds and organised sports activities together. We also aimed to increase the knowledge and mobility opportunities of young people about the Erasmus+ programme. By establishing a sport-based environment of tolerance, dialogue and solidarity between young people from EU countries and neighbouring countries, we also made the issue of European Citizenship tangible through sport. Thanks to our project, the participants experienced first-hand how sport can positively change their lives and what opportunities it offers in terms of health and socialisation. At the same time, they discussed how important sport is in developed societies and what can be done to increase the participation rate of young people in sport. The project gave the participants a perspective that strengthens cultural diversity, transcends differences, prevents violence in sports and promotes tolerance and respect. By using three different learning methods in this project, which also included disadvantaged young people, we emphasised how sport has a strong impact on social participation and ‘learning to learn’. Finally, we brainstormed on how to increase the participation of young people and people of all ages in sports activities; we developed various suggestions based on the experiences of developed societies that value sports.
