Through the implementation of the project, the vocational knowledge and skills of students with mild intellectual disabilities, who are receiving vocational education in handicrafts, have been improved, their motivation increased, and their awareness of environmental and climate change issues has been raised. The synergies, teamwork skills, and foreign language communication abilities of the project partners with their colleagues in different countries have been enhanced. Awareness of different cultures has been fostered. The vocational motivation of the participating project partners has increased, and they have gained the experience of working in a different country. The motivation of project partners to work in other countries has also been elevated. All of these are the goals we successfully achieved through the implementation of the project. The gradual depletion of natural resources, the environmental pollution caused by waste, global warming, and the negative developments resulting from climate change further emphasize the importance of recycling efforts. One of our key objectives is to reintegrate solid waste (such as metal, glass, plastic, paper, and textiles) into the economy through handicraft methods.
Our school is a vocational school where students with mild intellectual disabilities receive education. The aim is to introduce functional and useful new products to the economy through the recycling of waste materials (metal, glass, plastic, paper, textiles, etc.) using handicraft methods, thus enabling disadvantaged individuals to gain an advantage in economic life. Additionally, the goal is to develop students' handicraft skills, raise awareness about environmental and climate change issues, help them understand the positive effects of recycling on our environment and climate change, and improve their vocational competencies in handicrafts. As part of an international partnership, training videos have been created for the production of various materials from recyclable waste using handicraft techniques. Some of the videos, shot by international partners, were filmed during a joint activity related to handicraft processing as part of the Turkey LTT activity. Two books have been prepared in both English and Turkish: 'Sample Activity Videos Handbook,' which explains selected example activities from the videos, and 'Recycling to Art,' which emphasizes the importance of recycling in combating environmental and climate change.
