The main goal of Secure Future was to develop a standardized cybersecurity training program tailored for VET students in IT-related fields and employees working in SMEs' IT departments. The project set out to: • Develop a cybersecurity curriculum aligned with ECVET (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training). • Provide practical, accessible, and high-quality training materials for both VET institutions and SMEs. • Foster stronger collaboration between VET providers and industry leaders to align training with real-world cybersecurity needs. • Increase awareness and preparedness against cyber threats by offering self-learning digital resources.
The Secure Future initiative was launched to tackle the growing cybersecurity risks faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the existing skills gap in vocational education and training (VET). As cyber-attacks become increasingly sophisticated and frequent, SMEs struggle to protect their digital assets due to a lack of trained cybersecurity professionals. Similarly, many VET programs across Europe do not offer comprehensive or up-to-date cybersecurity education, leaving students unprepared for industry demands. Secure Future aimed to bridge this gap by equipping both VET students and SME employees with essential cybersecurity skills, ensuring better digital security and preparedness.
