Objectives

EASY4DIGIT intends to address the challenge represented by a more sustainable and competitive farming as response to the increase of world population and risks due to global warming and climate change. This result cannot be achieved without developing awareness and competences of farmers towards an advanced digital knowledge focused on smart and resilient farming. EASY4DIGIT will raise the skills capacity and in-house functional knowledge and best practices in order to improve the overall competitiveness of the agriculture industry and succeed in an increasingly digital, green and knowledge driven economy. The EASY4DIGIT project, seeks to facilitate the adoption of digital technologies in agriculture, promote sustainable farming practices and improve the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in the EU. To achieve this, it will provide access to cutting-edge technologies through digital education for both farmers and decision-makers in the agricultural sector.

Background

Digital agriculture is a promising field that has the potential to revolutionise the agricultural industry and help farmers produce food sustainably and efficiently to meet the needs of an ever-growing world population. Precision agriculture, a farming management concept based upon observing, measuring and responding to variability of conditions in crops, or to manage some aspects of animal rearing, is a new frontier based on use of innovative digital technologies enabling the farming systems to be more sustainable and effective. The challenge in the very next years will be to meet the capacity of involving also i) small and medium farms in the smart farming processes, ii) manufacturers to adapt their technologies to a farm lower dimension, and iii) policy makers to include adequately also small agricultural businesses in the development of digital farming.
