Objectives

The main objective of our project was to strengthen the capabilities of youth workers to enable them to act more effectively in the prevention of radicalization among young people. We aimed to provide youth workers with innovative tools, practical knowledge, and an international network for collaboration. By doing so, we wanted to contribute to increasing the quality, innovation, and recognition of youth work across Europe. Our specific goals included: Creating a digital platform (EARN-PORTAL) to share resources, research, and good practices. Publishing a report on the perception of youth workers in Europe towards radicalization to inform policy and practice. Developing a best practices handbook and a rehabilitation guide tailored for youth workers. Organizing training activities, workshops, and conferences to raise awareness and improve competencies. Promoting long-term cooperation between European organizations working in the field of youth and radicalization prevention.

Background

We applied for this project to address the growing threat of radicalization among young people, particularly migrants and refugees who face challenges in integration and social inclusion. Rising global migration and forced displacement have created vulnerable populations, especially youth, who are often exposed to social exclusion, discrimination, and isolation—factors that increase the risk of radicalization. Recognizing the critical role youth workers play in preventing this process, we identified a clear need to strengthen their skills, tools, and cross-border collaboration. The project focuses on developing innovative and practical approaches to empower youth workers in early prevention, education, and rehabilitation efforts. Through international cooperation, we aim to build a stronger network of trained professionals, improve access to resources and good practices, and enhance the overall quality and recognition of youth work across Europe in combating radicalization.
