This project is expected to provide a good case study for researchers in the context of its sustainable impacts. While a variety of local artistic and cultural activities have been carried out in the context of published and recommended migrant inclusion strategies, few projects focus on music as a focal point and a unifying feature. The most important features that make this project different from other studies are; bringing together both professional and amateur musicians from various countries around Europe to make music together, creating a unique common repertoire, and the continuity of the project outputs as well as the continuity of the subject matter. The aim of the project is to contribute to the social and cultural inclusion of people in need of getting used to living in a country with a different culture, language and norms than their homelands. To achieve the goals of this project playing music together and creating a common repertoire, including music from the receiving countries and the migrants’ own cultures, were the core of the activities planned. The need for a sense of belonging, cultural dialogue, mutual understanding, equality and diversity is the starting point and scope of this project.
The importance of cultural understanding is perhaps even higher than the economic needs for the different cultures living together to get to know each other better, especially for the better integration of immigrant communities into their society. Music is one tool that enables us to bring different cultures together and work for a common purpose. In parallel, social inclusion includes all the strategies and policies used to combat social exclusion. It involves providing resources to disadvantaged migrant communities to enjoy living in a society. Integrating the migrant community into their host communities is an enormous task that involves all members and organs of the society. Listening to the folk songs of different cultures can stimulate multilingual and intercultural dialogue, ultimately stimulating the urban acceptance of cultural minorities in areas. Based on all of these, the primary purpose of our project is to contribute to adult inclusion and integration through music. Under the scope of social inclusion processes, the need for a sense of belonging, cultural dialogue, mutual understanding, equality and diversity is the starting point and scope of this project.
