Objectives

According to global homelessness statistics provided by the Homeless World Cup Foundation, there were 3,386 people experiencing homelessness in Brussels. This is a 96% increase since 2008. In Flanders in 2014, there were 764 in winter emergency accommodation, 4,694 houseless people including 1,675 children, and 599 people threatened with eviction counted during a one-month survey. In Wallonia, 5,638 people used the emergency accommodation scheme in 2016. According to 2019 OECD report, there are almost 1 million homeless people in countries of the European Union. According to the reports 10 years ago, the number of homeless people has increased by 70%. Nowadays, the probability of more people becoming homeless has appeared with the Covid-19 virus that has caused big problems. In this case, the constant increasing number of homeless people shows the necessity of increasing the precautions that should be taken. The condition of homelessness is connected strongly with poverty and socially isolation. However; the basis of socially isolation includes social prejudices. In order to prevent these prejudices, it has been considered as an important necessity to tell the societies the concept of homelessness and the necessities of the homeless more properly. There are non-governmental organizations that work related to social exclusion or inclusion. Besides, there are thousands of non- governmental organizations working with disadvantaged youngsters that have the potential to carry out awareness works related to social exclusion and the homeless. Enabling these institutions to develop their capacities to carry out long-term projects regarding to the homeless and social exclusion has been considered as an important necessity according to the recent conditions. Nowadays, the youngsters are among the important groups that struggle against poverty and unemployment. Supporting the basic skills of youngsters is highly important for them to see themselves as a powerful part of the society in which they live and the European Union. In this case, bringing them in the non-formal learning opportunities and in the educational atmospheres where they can develop their key skills has been considered as a necessity to create this project. The targets that we managed to reach with this project: -Understanding the concept of homelessness in a proper way, -Understanding the necessities of the homeless people better and contributing to the prevention of the prejudices against them, -Contributing to the policies and studies carried out related to the homeless, -Improving the capacities of the non-governmental organizations that work related to the homeless and social exclusion or have the potential to work, -Supporting the international collaboration in inclusion and struggle against homelessness, -Preventing the social exclusion, -Warning the individuals about the dangers of social exclusion, -Developing the current key competences of youngsters, -Increasing the recognition and the number of beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ programme.
