The project aimed to empower youth—especially those in vulnerable situations—by fostering inclusion, connection, and active participation in their communities. Through storytelling using Photovoice, as well as social connection and co-creative workshops, the project sought to amplify young voices, highlight shared experiences, and guide community actors in recognizing their role in promoting a sense of belonging. In some cases, it connected youth with and without migration backgrounds through shared interests, while also enabling them to engage with decision-makers and influence local practices. By designing inclusive, meaningful leisure activities, the project created potential sustainable opportunities for youth to feel seen, heard, and valued. It also strengthened collaboration among partner organizations and encouraged clear communication, adaptability, and mutual respect. Ultimately, the project aimed to build resilient, diverse communities where youth are central to shaping a more inclusive future.
The consortium developed this project to address the urgent need for inclusive youth engagement amid shifting social dynamics caused by migration, conflict, and economic hardship. Many young people, particularly those from displaced or disadvantaged backgrounds, face barriers to integration and lack access to supportive community structures. This project empowers youth by involving them in designing and leading activities that foster belonging, participation, and intercultural understanding. Through accessible, green, and inclusive leisure initiatives, the project strengthens social cohesion and equips youth to connect and thrive. The use of a Youth Advisory Board ensured their voices remain central, aligning with the 2022 initiative “European Year of Youth”. By promoting collaboration, sharing best practices, and disseminating results widely, the project builds resilient communities where youth are supported, valued, and inspired to contribute to a diverse and inclusive society.
