Objectives

The goal of our project was to improve the educational framework by incorporating STEM methodologies and activities related to robotics and coding into our curriculum. This integration aims to provide students with essential skills for the modern world, such as digital literacy, critical thinking, computational skills, problem-solving abilities, and innovative thinking. By providing teachers with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively implement these methodologies, we aim to create an environment where students can successfully develop. Another goal was to integrate innovative approaches in the education of gifted students. This complemented our mission to prepare students for the future by equipping them with modern skills and actively involving them in the rapidly evolving digital world. The project aims not only to enhance the technical and cognitive skills of our students but also to contribute to the broader educational community by sharing experiences. Through lesson plans developed by our teachers focused on robotics and coding, we aimed to create a shared resource for other educators who wish to implement similar programs.

Background

In "Hristo Botev" Primary School, Aheloy, 290 students aged 7 to 14 are educated by a team of 30 teachers. The school is a Google reference school, an eTwinning school and an innovative school. Our commitment to the integration of technology in education is also evident through the implementation of the 1:1 model in two classes where each student uses an electronic device and their own profile. We have a STEAM center to support digital STEAM activities, The project STEAM everywhere corresponds to the goals of our organization to promote an innovative learning environment. Our goal is to provide students with essential skills such as computational thinking, problem solving, analytical thinking, logical thinking, design thinking, creativity and entrepreneurship. Recognizing the gaps in our standard curriculum regarding STEM-based robotics and coding, this project aims to increase the competencies of our teachers in this area. By combining the STEM approach with robotics and coding, we plan to integrate these skills into our curriculum, thereby improving our students' digital competence, critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
