The NaturalOrigins Project aimed to foster social inclusion and economic empowerment for young people with migrant backgrounds by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. The primary objective was to create pathways for these individuals to develop small-scale businesses (or critical thinking about entrepreneurship), particularly in the trade of natural products, thereby enhancing their financial independence and social integration. Additionally, the project sought to strengthen the capacity of educators and trainers working with marginalized groups by providing them with innovative tools and methodologies to support the target audience effectively. A further objective was to contribute to policy development by generating evidence-based recommendations for fostering entrepreneurship among young migrants. By achieving these goals, the project aimed to create a ripple effect, promoting inclusive communities, reducing unemployment rates, and supporting sustainable economic development at local, national, and European levels.
The NaturalOrigins Project was initiated to address the pressing needs of young people with migrant backgrounds, who often face significant challenges in social inclusion and economic participation. High rates of unemployment, lack of entrepreneurial opportunities, and limited access to upskilling programs were identified as critical barriers for this marginalized group. Recognizing these gaps, the project aimed to provide targeted solutions through entrepreneurship education, focusing on the trade of natural products. By equipping young migrants with entrepreneurial skills and fostering cultural exchange, the project sought to empower them to become self-reliant and active members of society. Additionally, the project addressed the broader need for inclusive, non-discriminatory communities by promoting dialogue and shared learning between migrants and local populations.
