Objectives

The main objective of the “CRAFTPRENEUR YOUTH” project was to empower young people by developing their skills in creative recycling and entrepreneurship. We aimed to increase their employability by teaching them how to turn waste materials into marketable products, combining environmental responsibility with income generation. The project also sought to raise awareness about sustainable waste management and promote green practices in local communities. Through international cooperation, we aimed to exchange good practices and build a strong transnational network of organizations working in youth empowerment and sustainability. We support youth workers and educators by enhancing their competences in non-formal education, enabling them to guide young people in crafting and entrepreneurship. With the implementation of the training, local workshops, and creating a digital booklet, we equip 175 young people and 46 youth workers with practical skills and knowledge, fostering creativity, environmental awareness, and economic initiative among European youth.

Background

The “CRAFTPRENEUR YOUTH” project was applied for in response to two urgent challenges faced by young people across Europe: high youth unemployment and the lack of awareness about environmental sustainability. Many young people, struggle to access the labour market due to limited skills and experience. At the same time, the potential of creative recycling and upcycling as a source of income and environmental action remains underexplored. The project aimed to empower low-skilled youth (aged 18–30) by enhancing their craft-making abilities and entrepreneurial competences using waste materials. It addressed the need to raise awareness about sustainable waste management and foster practical green entrepreneurship skills. The project promoted intercultural exchange, digital learning, and cross-border cooperation among youth workers and organizations. Through hands-on training, local workshops, and the creation of a digital booklet, the initiative supported participants in transforming waste into value—contributing both to their employability and to a greener Europe.
