Awareness about the European Union

Objectives

The primary objective of this project was to equip professionals from artistic, social, and educational fields, as well as the world of dance, with the tools, resources, and methodologies necessary to teach and engage with mixed-abled groups. By fostering a deeper understanding of inclusive dance practices, the project aimed to enhance learning opportunities and enable participants to implement innovative approaches within their organizations and professional fields. Additionally, the transnational nature of the project was designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and best practices among European partners, enriching participants' education and perspectives on dance, inclusion, and co-creation. The project also sought to challenge societal perceptions of ability and inclusion by redefining dance through mixed-abled approaches, demonstrating its transformative power to address social realities. Ultimately, the goal was to make dance and education more accessible, empowering practitioners to integrate inclusive methods into their work and establishing a sustainable foundation for future collaboration at the European level.

Background

This project was created to address the growing demand for inclusive dance practices in today’s society, where such offerings are gaining relevance but remain underdeveloped in both quality and quantity. Many professionals in artistic, social, and educational fields lack the tools to work effectively with mixed-abled groups. The project aims to bridge gaps between formal institutions and local community practitioners by increasing accessibility and recognition of inclusive dance education, fostering social justice, and enabling equal participation for all learners, regardless of abilities, formal education, or socio-economic status. Additionally, the project responds to the barriers people with disabilities face in participating in or leading dance practices, creating environments that represent diverse abilities and encourage active involvement. Beyond addressing these immediate needs, the project fosters awareness of the European Union’s value as a space for collaboration and shared learning. By building connections among participants and institutions across member states, it lays the foundation for long-term partnerships and promotes a cultural shift toward inclusion and equality in and through the arts.
