Objectives

With GREEN ACTS!, we aimed to educate students about climate change, sustainability, and responsible consumption while actively engaging them in hands-on environmental actions. Our key objectives were to increase awareness of climate issues, integrate sustainability into the curriculum, and encourage students, teachers, and communities to take action. Through this project, we wanted to develop a Teacher’s Climate Guide to support climate education across subjects, create digital and physical resources like eco-calendars and recycled materials exhibitions, and establish initiatives such as tree planting, energy-saving programs, and biodiversity conservation efforts. Additionally, we sought to enhance students' digital skills through the use of web tools for environmental projects. By fostering international collaboration, we aimed to exchange best practices and inspire long-term environmental responsibility, ensuring that students and educators become active agents of change in their communities.

Background

Our GREEN ACTS! project was initiated to address the urgent need for environmental education and action in our schools and communities. Many students lack awareness of climate change, and teachers often see environmental education as outside their subject scope. Through a SWOT analysis, we found that 65% of students did not understand the real causes of climate-related events, while 75% of teachers did not integrate sustainability topics into their curriculum. This project aims to bridge that gap by educating students on climate change, promoting sustainable habits, and engaging local communities. Key actions include creating a Teacher’s Climate Guide, implementing recycling programs, and organizing environmental activities. By integrating sustainability into education, we empower students and teachers to take meaningful action, fostering a long-term commitment to environmental responsibility while strengthening international cooperation on climate issues.
