Objectives

It is aimed to make immigrant students like the STEAM field by using learning by doing and gamification methods in the STEAM field. By carrying out this project, we primarily aimed to reduce the learning losses of immigrant students in the STEAM field and thus guide them to the STEAM field.

Background

Our reason for applying for the project is based on the needs and problems we encounter. Needs and Problems: 1. Students with immigrant backgrounds have more learning losses than their peers. 2. Migration, language barrier and pandemic have further increased the learning losses of immigrant students. 3. In both Germany and Austria, the ratio of students with immigrant background to other students is almost 20%. And this rate is increasing even more. 4. While students' interest in the STEAM field is decreasing day by day, the need for STEAM graduates of the European Union and especially Germany is increasing day by day (German KFW Report 2023). The ESTEAM project aims to promote the STEAM field for students with migrant background through identifying and mitigating the learning losses in the STEAM field. Thus, these students' self-esteem in success in the STEAM field will be increased and this will help increase also the number of students graduating from the STEAM field.
