Objectives

Development of Skills for Working in a Multicultural Environment: Teachers learnt how to work in a multicultural educational environment, prevent potential bullying, recognize problems, and resolve them. In recent academic years, the school has received students from families of recent immigrants. This situation requires teachers to possess skills for working in a multicultural environment, helping students integrate into a new community, recognizing issues, and being able to support students when needed. Teachers also communicated with the parents of students from other countries. Understanding of the educational process, attitudes, and values may differ, necessitating tact, tolerance, and the development of multicultural competence. Enhancement of Professional Skills: Teachers enhanced their professional skills according to individual development plans. Each teacher had the opportunity to choose training that aligns with their interests and individual development goals. Digital skills training for teachers is particularly relevant, along with training focused on developing teachers' social skills and collaborative abilities. Improvement of English Language Proficiency: Teachers will improve their English language skills.

Background

Tallinna Tõnismäe Reaalkool is a municipal school. The school's main focus areas are in the natural sciences and mathematics. The students actively participate in local, national, and international academic competitions. The school fosters international collaboration with schools from other European countries, benefiting both students and teachers. The school has a successful history of participating in Erasmus+ projects, having taken part in the initiative three times. Feedback from the participating educators has been very positive, and the number of participants has grown from 2 to 14 over the years. The project for short-term teacher mobility is part of the school's development plan for 2019-2023, specifically under the international cooperation strategy and the individual development plans for teachers. This project supports the school's international activities, curriculum for both primary and secondary levels, and teacher collaboration. For the current project, the school has selected three thematic areas: the development of students' social skills, including multicultural competencies; the enhancement of teachers' methodological and digital skills; and the improvement of teachers' proficiency in English.
