Objectives

1. One of our challenges was creating the prerequisites for increasing the academic success of students, because in several previous years the results of the state exams had gone downhill, and through study tours we hoped to gather good practices on how to raise academic success once again. 2. Since our development plan places emphasis on cooperation, we decided to focus on cooperation in our project and to get an idea of how cooperative work and learning are done in different European schools. Collaborative learning/teaching also includes subject-related cooperation and integration, which, based on the development plan, is one of our big challenges, which is difficult to implement. In mobilities, we hoped to find good practices, how subjects are integrated in European schools and how widely, and how this contributes to increasing academic success. 3. The most important background challenge was creating the prerequisites for starting a more systematic international cooperation, so that the teachers of our school would dare write and carry out international projects on their own initiative and thus bring international cooperation into their classes.

Background

Põlva Gümnaasium is a state high school that offers high-quality high school education in both stationary and non-stationary forms. In addition to the compulsory courses, our students also have plenty of opportunities to study elective courses, which, when combined, each student puts together their own curriculum that supports their future goals or helps them understand what they want to do next in life. Weekly lectures also support students in making their choices. Learning is supported by the school environment, which is modern, safe, friendly and inspiring, offering opportunities for both learning and spending useful time outside of class. Põlva Gümnaasium is the only educational institution operating in Põlva county that only offers high school level education, and we do our best to ensure continuity and keep the best students of our county from leaving for high schools in bigger cities. That is why we have to constantly find ways to keep up with the times and be the best choice for the local youth.
