Objectives

By the end of this project we will have a more positive atmosphere in our school to enhance better relationships between teachers and students, as well as abilities how to preserve our mental health. We would like to enhance collaboration among students and teachers that is based on trust and understaning. Telling students spellbinding stories of the countries the teachers have visited, we wish to evoke sincere interest in those cultures and peoples. We have the first-hand knowledege how to guide our students in the classroom as well as outdoors. We would like to make lessons more varied using social media and teach safety measures in the digital world. Our students will have a thorough knowledge about Ancient Greece and are able to spot connections between the values of antique, christian and our native culture.

Background

Tallinna Toomkool is the first Lutheran private school in the re-independent Republic of Estonia. It is the oldest school in Estonia. The school continues the legacy of the Tallinna Toomkool, which was founded in the 13th century and had its activities interrupted for more than half a century in the 20th century, preserving the heritage of Christian culture. The mission of our school is to combine modern high-quality general education, based on Christian values and culture, with extracurricular activities rooted in fine arts, within a student-friendly and teacher-valuing environment, creating the conditions for the development of a free and well-rounded personality. Extracurricular events are organized by class groups, and in primary school, there is a weekly folklore class. Our teachers are qualified and skilled educators who value the quality of their work and teach with heart, guided by Christian values. The teaching methods can be described as rather classical. We aim to increasingly adopt modern teaching methods that develop both teachers' and students' digital skills while fostering a mentally healthy learning environment where it is safe and enjoyable to learn and work.
