The main aim of the project was to work in cooperation on the 7th/8th grade curriculum topic of biographies between partner schools and to visit the Lithuanian school for a joint learning event. The purpose was to offer middle school students international communication and travel opportunities that would improve their foreign language and interpersonal communication skills and improve their confidence and study motivation after the years of Covid pandemic. It was also important to increase joy from the school experience. Another aim was to learn about the environmental sustainability approaches of the host school and implement new sustainability ideas related to waste reduction, energy saving and recycling at the visiting school as well. The project was inclusive - schools made efforts to include participants with fewer opportunities and special needs.
This project was organised between two private schools operating in different countries based on a similar (Waldorf-Steiner) curriculum - Pärnu Waldorfkool in Estonia and Vilniaus Valdorfo Žalioji mokykla in Lithuania. The English teachers of the two schools started planning for a mutual student exchange during an international course and found that the planned events correspond excellently to the conditions and priorities of the Erasmus+ programme. Both schools were interested in making more use of the Erasmus+ programme opportunities and in case of a successful outcome, to continue future cooperation.
