The project was implemented to develop multilingual competence, social competence, entrepreneurship competence, cultural awareness and self-expression competence in students. The main goal of the project/study tour is to practise the language, since B-foreign language has very few lessons per week, it is necessary to learn and practise it more. Also getting to know the culture, solving various life problems, and developing life skills. Self-directed learner - to analyse why it is useful to learn different languages, how to learn a language independently, and to get contacts with whom to communicate. The goal of the school's management was to popularize the choice of German as a foreign language B offered at the school. Every day students had to write in their journals, reflecting on their experiences, analysing what they had learned and how. Activities after the study migration - teaching a new sports game back home – dodgeball with different rules. Making posters and sharing experiences with fellow students. An article in the local newspaper was written by one of the students who participated.
August Kitzberg Gymnasium is a general education school in Karksi-Nuia, where 320 students study in grades 1-12. At the school, English is studied as a foreign language A and Russian or German as a foreign language B. The school values foreign language learning and supports students in finding opportunities to practise the language, for example, 8th-grade students can participate in Nordplus-financed youth exchange projects (as a partner school) with different nationalities and practise English through music, art and dance. There are fewer German language learners in the school than Russian language learners, and often the German language groups are very small, so they can only practise with a few friends and the teacher in the classroom. Study migration is a good opportunity to practise the language and motivate students. Students can also get to know the culture of the destination country and communicate with people whose mother tongue is German and get to know the culture and country of Germany.
