At its core, the aim of the project was to educate youth workers from different organisations and backgrounds about the possibilities that stop-motion film method offers. While filmmaking is something that the youth workers and young people are very interested in, it’s sometimes not the ideal method that is easily implemented in most youth work settings. However, stop-motion is more accessible, it doesn’t depend on expensive equipment, good acting, and a specific environment as much as regular films do. Due to this, it’s more suitable for use in youth work. Our goal was not only to improve the technical skills of the participants but also show them what’s possible with the methods that we are teaching them and motivate them to continue learning more about stop-motion even after the training course is finished. On top of stop-motion related content, it was also important for us to help the participants share knowledge and experience with each other, make new friends and create the groundwork for future cooperation. This is why we also combined the training course with a very active social program and used some of the best elements of our youth exchanges in this training course.
