Objectives

The objective of project was development of sustainable ecological mindset and behavior through innovative approaches to environmental education with active engagement. Pupils engaged in scientific experiments focused on environmental issues, particularly in island and coastal areas. This hands-on experience enhanced their understanding of importance of marine nature protection.By participating in outdoor activities, pupils moved away from sedentary lifestyle. They embraced physical activity, that improved their health and fostered a love for nature. The diverse natural environment encouraged pupils to interact positively, leading to improved manners and respect among peers. Through collaborative project events with partner schools, all pupils developed ICT skills. This exposure to technology enriched their learning experience and prepared them for the digital age. Teachers collaborated with international colleagues to enhance environmental education through innovative learning methods, referred to "learning by doing." This approach was designed to make learning more engaging and effective. Schools collaboratied internationally to enhance teaching of climate phenomena and address environmental issues specific to their regions.

Background

The project aimed to address the following needs: - we developed teaching materials ( visuals, images, videos) on environmental issues in insular and coastal zones; - applyed new teaching methods and techniques in cooperation with colleagues to make the teaching innovative, creative and more motivating for pupils; - integrated climate change and environmental issues’ topics within interdisciplinary learning context and into curricular subjects; - promoted interactive learning environment to conduct activities with a bigger impact and to involve a higher number of pupils; - attracted pupils to environment education through hands-on experiences and engaging them in nature-based activities such as nature hikes, making hedgehog houses, bird feeders, composting, outdoor field trips to explore the natural world, gardening, volunteering for local conservation projects. This provided a greater appreciation for the environment and a deeper understanding of ecological concepts; - developed the pupils' smooth socialisation and systematic understanding of the environment from primary school age; -acquired new ICT skills and awareness for culture diversity through interaction with partner schools; - set the international partnership.
