Objectives

Project Objective (P.O.) 1: Enhance young people's capabilities of managing their emotions through corporal actions and interactions. P.O. 2: Provide young people with gathered non-formal education tools through special-built, self-empowering digital bodywork webquests. P.O. 3: Raise awareness of the importance of the role of the body in emotional management and contributing to a high quality non-formal youth education through self-empowering digital bodywork tools (webquests).

Background

The EMBODY project was created to address critical needs in youth emotional management, particularly in the context of ongoing global crises like war, climate change, and the pandemic. A key issue was the shortage of mental health professionals, especially in Estonia, where support for young people was lacking. Additionally, many youths were emotionally disconnected from their bodies, leading to unhealthy coping mechanisms like substance abuse and social media addiction. The project aimed to provide tools for emotional bodywork to help youth reconnect with their bodies, promoting better mental health and resilience. EMBODY also targeted disadvantaged youth, including refugees and war victims, adapting emotional management tools to their specific needs. With the broader goal of fostering inclusion and empowerment, the project emphasised the importance of building resilience in the face of crises. By teaching emotional regulation through bodywork, the project aimed to equip youth with the skills to manage their emotions consciously and improve their overall well-being and social integration.
