Through this project, we wanted to empower young people, particularly those with refugee backgrounds, to become proactive global citizens capable of addressing current environmental challenges and shaping a more sustainable future. Our primary objectives included enhancing critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity skills to increase employability and adaptability, particularly in the green job market. We aimed to deepen understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goals 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 13 (Climate Action), to foster environmental responsibility and encourage sustainable practices. The project also promoted inclusion by providing job alternatives and educational resources to young refugees, facilitating their integration while celebrating diversity and cultural understanding. We aimed to equip youth workers with innovative teaching methods that incorporate environmental awareness and the SDGs, creating more engaging learning environments.
We applied for this project to empower young people, particularly those with refugee backgrounds, who face challenges with integration, education, and career development. We aim to develop the critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity (4Cs) skills necessary for personal and professional growth while preparing them for future opportunities in green jobs and industries. Understanding SDGs 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 13 (Climate Action) fosters a sense of environmental responsibility and inspires meaningful action. Integration and inclusion are also vital. By offering job alternatives and guidance to young refugees, we support their integration into local societies and economies. Collaborative activities bridge cultural gaps, promoting tolerance and understanding. The project updates youth workers' teaching methods and enhances their digital skills to create more engaging, sustainable approaches. Lastly, fostering local networks among youth organizations, authorities, and NGOs creates a supportive framework that strengthens families and encourages discussions on sustainable living, building a community of responsible global citizens.
