Objectives

The primary goal of the project was to enhance practical learning opportunities in greenhouse automation. This was achieved by developing an interactive virtual greenhouse, which allowed students to experiment with automation in a controlled, risk-free environment. In addition, the project focused on creating structured training materials, equipping teachers with stronger digital competencies, and ensuring that automation training aligns with industry needs. Strengthening international cooperation was another key objective, enabling educators from different countries to share expertise and best practices. Sustainability was also a core principle, with a strong emphasis on automation solutions that optimize energy and resource use in horticulture.

Background

The project was initiated to modernize vocational education by introducing digital learning solutions to greenhouse automation training. Traditional teaching methods often lacked interactive and practical elements, making it difficult for students to apply automation principles effectively. Furthermore, there was a strong need for structured and accessible digital learning materials that could support both blended and remote learning. By developing a virtual greenhouse simulator and comprehensive training materials, the project aimed to provide an engaging and scalable educational solution that enhances students’ learning experience.
