The primary objective of the E-DEI IN VET project was to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the vocational education and training (VET) sector. We aimed to develop and disseminate a comprehensive DEI methodology, including a practical handbook and video training materials, to equip VET trainers and professionals with the skills necessary for fostering inclusive learning environments. By implementing the DEI approach in VET, we sought to reduce discrimination and promote equity in educational settings and the broader workplace. Additionally, the project aimed to facilitate the exchange of good practices and experiences in DEI among VET professionals across Europe, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable VET sector. Through these efforts, we aimed to empower VET trainers and students, enhancing their awareness and competencies in DEI, ultimately fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect for diversity within the VET community and beyond.
We applied for the "E-DEI IN VET" initiative to improve VET diversity, equity, and inclusion. We were driven by VET's vital role in fighting social exclusion and marginalization. However, labor market inequities, notably age, gender, ethnicity, and discrimination against minority groups or those with learning impairments, showed a need to integrate DEI concepts into VET programs. To address these issues, the project developed a comprehensive approach and practical tools to teach VET trainers and students in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our objective was to make VET more inclusive, recognizing and celebrating varied abilities and viewpoints to create a more equal and inclusive educational and working culture. We implemented this initiative to teach VET trainers and professionals how to establish inclusive learning environments, minimize prejudice, and promote fairness in the VET sector. This effort aimed to link VET programs with social inclusion and equality, ensuring that vocational training not only delivers job skills but also promotes diversity and inclusivity.
