The main goal has been to raise awareness and provide the knowledge and skills necessary to act in environmental protection to various populations, raising their awareness about various environmental issues and through the teamwork of an international consortium. Specifically, we aimed to establish a cooperation network by exchanging effective practices in project management and environmental conservation. We shared this knowledge with teachers, youth workers, and other interested groups. Additionally, we raised awareness among young people in Romania, Spain, and Turkey about environmental conservation. In quantitative terms, our objectives included: - Engaging at least 150 young people. Thanks to the project, they are now more aware of environmental conservation. - Properly training at least 48 staff members in environmental education, increasing their awareness of existing issues. - Engaging at least 30 local organizations and more than 45 stakeholders. - Raising awareness among at least 1,000 people in the project's scope about environmental issues and how they can contribute to solving them.
There are multiple reasons that motivated us to present this project, related to current challenges such as climate change, which highlights the urgency of adopting new perspectives in human development. This need is exacerbated by factors such as the growing demand for resources and the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused us to rethink our consumption and relationship with the ecosystem. In particular, we focus on the high level of consumption that contributes to environmental degradation. Through the principles of reducing, recycling, and reusing, we saw an opportunity to address these issues. Additionally, we identified the need to tackle these challenges from an educational approach. Teachers, who are role models for students, play a crucial role in setting examples of sustainable behaviors for their pupils. For this reason, we decided to create a project that fosters environmental awareness and conservation among young people. This project is also inspired by recent international achievements, such as the 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
