Objectives

Inserting subjects/training courses related to the different craft activities in vocational training centres and training for employment. Enable people who want to dedicate themselves to artisan work to receive training in this field. To unite synergies between employment training centres and craftsmen and craftswomen.

Background

Craftsmanship is increasingly valued by the public who understand the complexity of production and the added value of the product. In spite of this, many craft centres are unable to find replacements for retiring workers and masters. One of the causes is the lack of training of people in these trades. The aim of this project is to enhance the value of artisan work by encouraging vocational training schools, art schools (in Spain) and occupational training centres to include itineraries or subjects that cover these specialities and that people who can be trained in these specialities can start up artisan businesses or be employed in those with a demand for workers with this type of specialisation. Moreover, to maintain this type of production is to maintain a European cultural heritage, as in the case of Fajalauza, with more than 500 years of history, or the members of the Associazione Botteghe Artigiane del Centro Storico.
