The project aimed at engaging young people and strengthening Consortium capacities in Transformative Economies, by: raising visibility of TEs’ practices; enhancing active young people active citizenship and competences to become multipliers; creating a cascade effect through peer activities that reach less active young people; maximizing the long-term impact of tools produced through the creation of a European network involving young people and cross-sectorial organisations.
This project was conceived during the Covid crisis when the need for fairer, more sustainable socio-economic models became evident. We applied because we believe that Transformative Economies practices bring a set of values to the change for young people, prioritising human needs, natural systems, care, and community over profit. Our goal was to empower young citizens by engaging them in mapping TE practices, co-designing educational tools (a game on TEs and a user manual), and fostering peer-to-peer learning. This process strengthened their skills, civic engagement, and sense of initiative while creating a ripple effect in their communities. With this project we wanted to address two main challenges: many young people want to contribute but they lack opportunities, while others are disengaged. Therefore, we used game design and game-based learning, making participation more appealing and impactful. Since no game-based approach existed to promote TEs beyond formal studies, this project filled a crucial gap. By funding this initiative, we enabled youth-driven change, reinforced engagement, and provided adaptable tools that could be used across sectors.
