Objectives

With this partnership building seminar we wanted to gather a large amount of youth workers and other people from the field of youth work (later all called youth workers) to update their knowledge about Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps (later ESC) opportunities and to meet partners from all different parts of Europe for future cooperation on the field of youth work in Europe. With the seminar we also wanted to introduce Youth Centre Pikku-Syöte to all participants as we Pikku-Syöte hosting this seminar, are new to Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps EU projects as an applicant/partner organisation. Through the week we shared the work we do at Pikku-Syöte and our priorities in the field of youth work and many participants shared their good practices from previous Erasmus+ and ESC projects. Our objectives were: Build good partnerships for future cooperation on the field of youth work in Europe+ (EU countries and other countries actively using Erasmus+ and ESC programmes that we can cooperate with) Give space in the programme for other organisations visiting Pikku-Syöte to show their work to the seminar participants and share their good practices to others. Especially introduce all the different EU youth programme possibilities through examples from participating organisations and organise the programme so that we can use the knowledge of the participants when having a workshop about international quality cooperation, supporting young people in projects (especially those who possibly need more support to participate), etc. One goal of the seminar was to create a platform where new ideas for future cooperation can start building. As the seminar gathered so many people together from so many background organisations we organised the seminar in a way that organisations and participants with different interest or focus in their work can meet especially others who share common grounds in their work. And then there was time to brainstorm common project ideas. The last days of the seminar were meant to allow participants to plan projects together but also show to Pikku-Syöte who they can cooperate in the future with and with what kind of project ideas. One objective of the seminar was also to create a space for “post-corona” times to network again and shake the interest of the participating organisations and participants to do more international activities with young people and for developing their work in local level. As we have noted that after the pandemia traveling is not anymore as active as it has been, also participation or interest towards international activities are not the same anymore and the quality of our projects suffer in general because of this. Before the seminar we spent too much time mapping the perfect partners internationally and locally but with the seminar we hope we have found a common ground in international youth work with many organisations and cooperation sending young people or youth workers to activities will also be easier now in the future.
