Mental health challenges are a growing problem among people of different ages in both Finland and Estonia. Covid-19 situation also had a growing effect on this trend. The more people face mental health challenges, the more there is a need to develop new tools for mental health professionals to rehabilitate those who have faced problems. There is also a will among professionals to move from the traditional patronizing medical approach to a true partnership where social factors play a significant role. In discussions with Finnish and Estonian project organizations, we noted that mental health professionals need practical training to implement the Recovery Orientation Framework. This is how the idea of developing and testing Estonian-Finnish recovery orientation training was born. In addition, it was seen as important to create relationships between Estonian and Finnish mental health organizations so that we can jointly develop and find solutions to strengthen the inclusion and well-being of mental health rehabilitators.
