We considered that cultural heritage should be prioritized by each community of the modern world and digital cultural heritage as well. Our aim was to improve our schools' digital life and to contribute to preserving cultural and natural heritage via digital tools. We defined the following specific objectives; O1 - to contribute to the process of digitalising school life O2- to raise awareness of the importance of cultural heritage and to contribute to preserving and valuing our local cultural heritage; O3 to equip students with digital competencies and skills in order to be capable of digitalizing our local cultural and natural heritage; 04- to equip students with cultural competencies; 05- to create digitalized cultural heritage products
The objectives of the project were derived from recent everyday life experiences and connected to the needs of contemporary active citizenship. The world of digital life is our new reality and it has become a must to be digitally skilled. Digital and cultural awareness and expression competencies are among the 8 key competencies listed in the Recommendation of the European Council for lifelong learning. The pandemic revealed the necessity to invest more in digitalising the educational system as teachers and students as well were challenged to run their school practice using digital skills. We wanted to raise awareness of students and our local communities on the opportunities of the digital world; to guide our students to observe, value and preserve the wonders of nature and history around them with digital tools.
