By this project we wanted to pay attention to environmental and sustainable awareness as well as diversity and equality of genders, social integration, non-discrimination, inclusion and most of all hope for the future and school motivation. We wanted to achieve new and fresh thinking and understanding that leads into action of tolerance and acceptance and into sustainable choices in one`s daily life.
We have in our schools a generation that has lived through difficult periods in their life; Corona virus, climate change, energy cricis and the war in Ukraine. All these things have influenced our students´ minds and caused fear and depression.Many of them are afraid of what their future will look like. We wanted to bring them HOPE by working together and making things together so that they could see it is possible to influence their own future by cooperating. We wanted to pay attention to students` worry about their future and the rapidly changing circumstances at school and in the society. The students`mental health problems have increased and their motivation to learning has decreased. Moreover, there are many students with fewer opportunities in both schools. Kirkkojärven koulu and the school in la Pobla are both situated in an area where there are more economically poor families and unemployment than in average. In Kirkkojärven koulu there are 44% of the students with immigrant background and the amount of immigrant students and refugees is increasing all the time.There are also exceptionally many students with special needs in Kirkkojärven koulu.
