Objectives

We wanted to give both students and teachers an opportunity to develop following key competences: a) multilingual b) digital c) personal, social and learning to learn d) cultural awareness and expression e) entreprenaurship competence. In concrete we hoped that the participants improve their language skills (English), become more socially aware and active citizens of EU, find new creative and digital methods for learning and/or teaching, learn to appreciate the plurarity of cultures and languages in EU and finally show entrepreneurship skills and way of thinking in their actions. It would make the students open minded and prepare them for their future adult life and career development. All the objectives mentioned above were connected with the challenges that EU was facing that time: security, energy crisis, climate change and war refugees. We seeked solution for the elimination of the unwanted differencies which divade the multicultural societies.

Background

The motivation for this project came from the current events in Europe that caused distress among our students and members of the staff. The war in Ukraine caused distress and anxiety which every participating school tried to ease. We teachers were proud to discovere that our students wanted to convert their distress and anxiety into something positive, something active and something meaningful. We seeked for unity and frienship on concrete level. We wanted to show our students that by working with current themes they understand how schools and education are strongly connected to the world around them. To become an active citizen with wide generalknowledge, social conscience and ability to express ones oppinions were, and still are, important educational goals in our countries. Ukrainian war refugees had arrived in all the participating schools. In every school students wished that project would involve interaction with Ukrainian refugees. In general we wanted to familiarized ourselves with how to deal with emigrants and refugees in our region. What can be done to integrate people from different countries who decide to leave their home country and start living abroad?
