Objectives

The project’s objectives were to raise awareness of soil conservation among 550 people through the workshop, to train 60 new facilitators across partner countries and internationally and to mobilize this community, to produce a new version of the workshop and create a true partnership between the different project partners.

Background

Mass awareness is an essential step in the ecological transition of agriculture because all stakeholders (i.e. citizens, politicians, companies, farmers) are involved and can act at their own level. The soil is at the origin of our food and more (materials, clothes, fuel…) and yet it is very often unknown or misunderstood because it is invisible and hidden. The Living Soils Workshop is a tool that responds to this need for awareness by enabling as many people as possible to understand how soil works, identify what can damage it and take action to preserve it. We applied for this project to facilitate the dissemination of the tool: at a European level (translation of the workshop and facilitation by the French, Belgian and Dutch partners), for different audiences (evaluation of the workshop by participants in order to reach a new version which is best suited) and training new facilitators in different countries.
