Objectives

This project aimed to invest in the further development of Korablja's capacity as a provider of educational and social services. To achieve this, the project had set three goals: - to strengthen the capacities of experts for the provision of inclusive high-quality social services in the community and for the development of PWD mental health protection services, - to strengthen the psychosocial skills of PWD for participation in the life of the local community - strengthen the capacities of Korablja and 6 partner organizations for the execution of high-quality international mobility projects

Background

The issues that this project aimed to solve are the exclusion of persons with disabilities (PWD): they state that they do not have friends with whom they can build stable relationships; they spend a lot of time in isolation. We wanted to address the issue of loss of acquired psychosocial skills after formal education and the problem of underdeveloped psychosocial skills in PWD in order to improve the possibilities of interaction with the environment. The aforementioned problems are a consequence of the insufficient offer of social services in the target communities, and the existing services are often unavailable and not adapted to the needs of PWDs and their families. The project enabled the creation of a stimulating environment for the interactive relationship of PWD with the local and EU community, especially with groups of volunteers. The project supported and recognized PWD as active partners in the provision of social services and in building the community in which they live through innovative social services. The project solves lack of professional support in local community and supports building a network of professionals for supporting mental health problems for PWD.
