Two main objectives of this project were to Promote sustainable development goals in the local community and Promote healthy lifestyles within our students. Sustainable development goals are one of the most important topics for the future, requiring additional educational activities in the classrooms. However, not even schools focusing on STEAM integrate enough skills and competences on topic to an adequate extent. Overall, there is a lack of educational concepts in this important field. Therefore, with this project we developed different activities that would promote the topic and fight against climate change effectively, inclusively and cooperatively with international partner schools. Activities shared between partner schools were presented to the local government to make our city more eco friendly. Also the shaping of the citizens of tomorrow among our students is one of the major challenges of education. In this project we implemented this teaching so the students could reflect on different aspects such as taking care of one's body, one's mind but also of the environment around us.
Primary school Glina is a public primary school that offers general education programmes for students from 6 to 14 years old. For the past 18 years our school has been an International Eco school and one of curriculum priorities are sustainable development topics. Within our work we try to implement Sustainable development goals in our teaching process but also promote with our students healthy lifestyles topics in everyday life. There are many activities that are organized at school or in collaboration with different partners throughout the year that try to raise awareness about climate change, ecology, healthy diet and taking care of our bodies. We have 442 students at the moment. There is a main school building and one smaller school for students from 6 to 10 years in Maja (7 km from Glina). All together there are 27 classes in our school. The majority of our students live in Glina, but around 100 students live in rural parts of the town. In our school we have students of different nationalities and religions. Also at the moment we have 50 students with special needs. There is a class for students with special needs. Other students with special needs are integrated in regular classes.
