We wanted 1. To train teachers to hold new outdoor extracurricular activities and expand the offer of extracurricular activities in the school with two outdoor extracurricular activities. 2. To Increase the time spent outdoors in the school environment by an hour or two per week by introducing outdoor extracurricular activities and by introducing the concept of outdoor learning through various subjects increasing the quality of teaching and learning by using new technologies and innovative teaching methods - outdoor learning. 3. To create a pleasant collaborative relationship between students and teachers, which contributes to the improvement of attitudes towards learning and the continuation of education and greater employment of local residents in the future. 4. To raise the environmental awareness of students and parents 5. Inclusion of students from weaker socio-economic status, students with learning problems and students of Roma origin in mobility, school activities and the social community. By including students with fewer opportunities who otherwise rarely get involved in activities we wanted to involve them in the social life of the community, raise their self-confidence, sense of value and equality in society.
Our school is a primary school of 370 students with a national curriculum. There are Roma students of which some drop out of school in 7th grade, many students live in difficult socio-economic conditions, often both parents are unemployed and uneducated. Many lack motivation to study and support from their parents, but also motivation and ideas for spending quality free time outdoors. Classes are of medium size but in every there are students with adjusted or individualised programmes and we have two special needs classes. We offer a variety of indoor extracurricular activities: sports, choir, creative workshops and household but we lack outdoor extracuricular activities. During the pandemic and restrictions, students retreated even more indoors. This was one of the reasons we decided to write this project. Students with learning difficulties are almost never involved in extracurricular activities and informal work we wanted to give them as well the opportunity to be involved and make them seen in the school community. Educated and trained teachers would through outdoor activities motivate students and involve them in more active care of the environment. School sourrounding would through mutual work become nicer and friendlier.
