Objectives

The project had two strategic goals. One of them, linked to the implementation of the National Ageing Strategy, was to develop the movement competence of staff, senior group leaders, members of senior groups, peer helpers, volunteers involved in the care, nursing, mental, cognitive or spiritual well-being of elderly people, and to expand the methodological repertoire of mobilising others. In many cases, caring for the elderly requires to move them, which is a sustained physical strain for the helper Thus, in addition to developing the competences needed to move others, it is also necessary to develop the movement skills needed to protect their own physical health. Our second goal, related to the Healthy Hungary 2021-2027 program to increase the health literacy of the population, was to help active workers to maintain their own health, to develop health awareness and health behaviour through the development of movement perception. As the rate of musculoskeletal problems is already high among active workers, we considered it important to promote prevention, to shape attitudes towards physical activity and to develop good habits and forms of movement related to physical activity and workplace ergonomics.

Background

The main goals of KIFE are to provide services in the field of youth and adult education and to bring together the organisations and trainers in value-oriented projects. KIFE pursue and explore new methods, learning materials and innovative solutions to the needs of the national society in its development areas of youth development, community and civic development, international connections and senior development, through professional workshops, study visits, meetings, staff delegations, non-formal training and other professional or community-building programmes. KIFE provides its services, partnership and professional support to several layers of society (e.g. trainers, NGOs). It pays particular attention to maximising the development potential of certain disadvantaged target groups (people living in small towns, women, young people in socially peripheral situations, people over 50, the unemployed). Within the framework of its Senior programme, which aims to activate elderly people, develop their physical and mental well-being and strengthen their role in society, it has been working since 2016 on the development of seniors and on the non-formal training for adults caring for seniors.
