We wanted to develop an understanding of how other jurisdictions address our targeted areas through facilitating members of the sub-committees (who are already very knowledgeable in their areas) to further develop their provision by experiencing, exploring and critically analysing the provision as delivered by providers from other jurisdictions. We were particularly hopeful that the courses which build in school visits would be very valuable to the group.
Laois Education Centre provides support to schools in the Midlands, both primary and post-primary. We have a number of sub-committees of our Management Committee who lead our provision to schools in various targeted areas. Development of these sub-committees is an area we wish to develop further. As part of this, we are keen to offer them the opportunity to learn more about how education systems in other jurisdictions have evolved in their chosen areas and see how they approach these areas. Short-term mobility projects are a huge opportunity for organisations like ours to grow and develop through exploring approaches outside our own sphere of experience.
