1. Exposure to France and its culture, students will see French as a living language; they will experience the culture and traditions of France. Students will gain confidence and overcome current challenges imposed by the Junior & Leaving Cert exam. They will realise University access is not the sole reason to learn the French language. The best way to learn a foreign language is to speak it. Too often, students spend their time studying grammar and memorising lists of words instead of actually putting what they've learned into practice. Speaking with their French peers will help students to feel much more motivated about learning the language. We also envisage improved effective usage of ICT as a tool to teach languages. 2. Courses and ICT Training for Staff, improved best practice on usage of ICT in the classroom.
Glenamaddy CS is located in a rural area setting with few travel and work opportunities. Travel is expensive and smoetimes not affordable for many of our students and staff. Our school participated in a Student Erasmus+ mobility in the past. The title of that project was 'Entrepreneurship, Imagination at Work’. The project took place in 2017 & 2018. We have also completed two separate staff ICT training course projects in 2018-2020 & 2019-2022 respectively. Our travel was interrupted due to Covid19. There is a growing appetite among staff and students to build on current Erasmus+ mobilities. Previous mobilities provided opportunities for both staff and students to travel and engage in useful cultural and ICT training.
